1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
2 and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. He is first, by translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, that is, king of peace.
Hebrews 7:1-2
We all long for peace. How can we live in a land characterized by peace? Not without knowing its King. In this sermon we explore the mysterious character of Melchizedek who points us to Jesus, King of righteousness, King of peace, and our priest forever.

Hebrews: Childlike not Childish
Monday Jul 07, 2014
Monday Jul 07, 2014
We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, (Hebrews 6:19)Ever wonder why a one year old baby can run down the hall naked and everyone laughs, but when a 40 year old does that...well its not looked upon well. When does that change happen. There are certain expectations in maturity that follow normal life. It is no different in our Christian growth. You aught to look and act a lot different after having walked with Christ for a longer period of time. In this sermon we look at Hebrews 5:11-6 and what it means to have a childlike faith rather than a childish faith.Delivered to the Galena Bible Church, Sunday July 6th, 2014.

Hebrews: Our High Priest
Monday Jun 30, 2014
Monday Jun 30, 2014
For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect
has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)What
does it mean that Jesus was tempted as we are? It means Jesus was
tempted to despair, rage, lust, be prideful, arrogant, deceitful,
irreverent, and unholy. Yet throughout all his temptation he was without
sin. Therefore he knows our struggles, can empathize with our weakness,
and draws us to the throne of God's grace. In this sermon we look at
Hebrews 4:14-5:10 and see what Jesus does as our high priest.Sermon delivered to the Galena Bible Church, Sunday June 29th, 2014.
