Wednesday May 03, 2017
Wednesday May 03, 2017
"But no human can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Wit it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so." James 3:8-10
Out tounge has incredible power. We speak life and death with it. So what do you speak? Sermon delivered to the Galena Bible Church, Sunday April 30th, 2017 by pastor Chris Kopp.

Do you Believe? -- God has spoken
Wednesday Mar 08, 2017
Wednesday Mar 08, 2017
Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
When we call people to believe the Gospel, on what grounds can we claim that what the Bible says is authoritative. It takes belief in the truth that God has spoken through special revelation in the Bible. In this sermon we look at Psalm 19 and are called to believe that God has in fact spoken.

Acts: When Things Don't Go As Planned
Monday Nov 07, 2016
Monday Nov 07, 2016
Acts 13:45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him.
I don't think Paul set out on his first missionary journey thinking that it would involved almost being killed. No one sets out following Jesus with the plan of things being hard. But when things do get hard, does it mean that God failed? What about if things get REALLY hard? Every town Paul walked into he was mocked, and refuted, but every town he left there were disciples of Jesus left in the wake. How do we learn to trust God when things don't go as planned.

Acts: Repentance that leads to life
Monday Oct 31, 2016
Monday Oct 31, 2016
Acts 11:18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, "Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life."
Cornelius was a Roman Centurion that any church would just about do anything to have as a member. He was devout, feared God, was generous to everyone, and prayed continually. Only one problem...He wasn't saved. Thousands upon thousands of "Corneliuses" walk through the doors of churches every week. They are GREAT people, leaders, mentors, but do not have "repentance that leads to life". So how do we preach the Gospel to them?
