Exodus 3:13-14 Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
Moses asks a good question. Who is God? Is he knowable? The doctrine of God is a central doctrine of the Christian faith. If we come to false understandings, we'll come to a false god. God told Moses "I AM". If you claim to believe God is "I AM" yet continually behave as though "I AM not" then you believe the later, rather than the former. Can it be said of you as it was of the patriarchs "I AM the God of (Insert your name here)"?
Delivered to the Galena Bible Church, Sunday January 18th, 2015.
