The Holy One of Israel: The Servant Suffers
Monday Aug 08, 2016
Monday Aug 08, 2016
Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Probably the most incredible prophetic text in the book of Isaiah, chapter 53 reviels the Gospel of Jesus 700 years before it is fulfilled. We hope you are blessed by it.

Isaiah 49:3 And he said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified."
What are we looking for in a leader? Someone strong, visionary, forward thinking? How about a servant who is a king?

The Holy One of Israel: Comfort
Monday Aug 01, 2016
Monday Aug 01, 2016
Isaiah 40:1-2 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. (2) Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
Everytime we listen to the news and leave with a heavy heart we feel a small part of what the Jews were feeling after their Babylonian captivity. Depression, despair, hopelessness, and on and on the heartache continues. But God has promised Comfort. That comfort would not be a free nation, financial prosperity, or safe boarders. It would be a child. He would be their comfort.

Monday Jul 18, 2016
Monday Jul 18, 2016
Isaiah 38:2-3 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, (3) and said, "Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Trials come in all shapes and sizes. Do you rely on your own strength, or do you run to the Lord?

The Holy One if Istael: What makes God groan?
Monday Jul 18, 2016
Monday Jul 18, 2016
Isaiah 30:1 "Ah, stubborn children," declares the LORD, "who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;
In Isaiah 28-33 God groans 6 times. Each groan laments the heart's sin of humanity. They are still true today.

Isaiah 25:8-9 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. (9) It will be said on that day, "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation."
Two cities: A wasted, desolate city, and a city filled with joy and God. Which of these two cities do you live in? Sermon delivered to the Galena Bible Church, Sunday July 3rd, 2016 by pastor Chris Kopp.

The Holy One of Israel: Redeeming Hope for Godless Nations
Wednesday Jun 29, 2016
Wednesday Jun 29, 2016
Isaiah 22:12-13 In that day the Lord GOD of hosts called for weeping and mourning, for baldness and wearing sackcloth; (13) and behold, joy and gladness, killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine. "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
Isaiah chapters 13-23 are called "The Oracles to the Nations" and they are bleak. The conquering armies will destroy that part of the world. Nation upon nation will fall by the judgement of God. Why? Because they loved other gods, and they placed their faith in lesser saviors. YET in every single nation there is redemptive hope. Even for current nations that run after lesser saviors there is still Redeeming Hope.

The Holy One of Israel: Saved through Judgment
Monday Jun 20, 2016
Monday Jun 20, 2016
Isaiah 12:1-6 You will say in that day: "I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me. (2) "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation." (3) With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. (4) And you will say in that day: "Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. (5) "Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth. (6) Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel."

The Holy One of Israel: Faith in the coming Messiah
Monday Jun 13, 2016
Monday Jun 13, 2016
Isa 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Unfortunately we had a technical difficulty and were unable to record all of this sermon. But be encouraged, God's Word does not return void.
The Immanuel narrative is a "Now and Not yet" prophesy. It had immediate validity to it's hearers, but also pointed to a messiah who would come and be "a son given". Do you have faith in that messiah?
