Ancient Marriage

Genesis 2:24-25  Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  (25)  And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.The purpose and meaning of marriage in modern culture had been muddled and confused. All Life Matters

Psalm 139:15-16  My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.57,000,000. That's the estimated number of children that have been killed in the United States through the medical procedure known as abortion since Roe V Wade went through the Supreme Court. 57,000,000 innocent image bearers of the eternal God, slaughtered in what should have been the safest place in the world and in their entire lives. What does the Bible have to say about it? A whole lot. We Wait For Him

Isaiah 25:9  It will be said on that day, "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation."What are you waiting for right now? A better job? Better marriage? Better health? Are you waiting for circumstances to be different or a different outcome to events in your life? When all is done, Isaiah 25:9 tells us we won't be declaring those things. We'll be declaring "BEHOLD! Unto Us a Child Is Born

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. Isaiah 9:6Imagine you were the only person in the world with the ability to see. How would you tell people about the sun? It's the same challenge that Christians have speaking the Gospel into Christmas time in a world that does not know him. God works to bring His joy to the nations. How does he do that? Through (1) freeing us from sin, (2) granting victory over the war of our flesh, (3) exchanging His Son for us. O Come Emmanuel

The Sign of Emmanuel was what some scholars call a duel prophesy. We so often only think of it in the context of it's fulfillment in Jesus. But it had an earlier fulfillment as well, with King Ahaz. (Read Isaiah 7 and 8) Emmanuel for the Christian mean's joy, salvation, Christmas! For Ahaz it meant judgement, war, rebellion. It mean's that for the Christian too. The JOY of Christmas is mingled with the BRUTALITY of the cross.
